Kid Rock to Get Roasted for 40th Birthday

Kid Rock does not plan to turn 40 quietly. At the singer's annual Halloween party Saturday night (Oct 30) in his suburban Detroit rehearsal hall, Rock told the gathering of family, friends and radio programmers flown in from around the country that he would be the subject of a Comedy Central roast on his birthday, Jan. 17, at Detroit's Fox Theatre.

Details for the roast are currently being worked out, though Rock also announced plans to perform a special, guest-filled birthday concert at Detroit's Ford Field, to be renamed "Forty Field" for the occasion, in proximity to the roast.

Kid Rock: The 'Born Free' Cover Q&A

Rock performed eight songs from his new album, "Born Free," at Saturday's Halloween bash, including the title track/first single and a good-humored, unreleased song called "F***in' Forty." His Twisted Brown Trucker Band was re-christened the Clarkston Village People, with members sporting various Village People attire. Rock himself was dressed as the policeman. 

Earlier on Saturday, Rock performed with Sheryl Crow at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" in Washington, D.C., writing an original song for the occasion.

Rock's "Born Free" album comes out on Nov. 16 and features guest appearances by Zac Brown, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow, Bob Seger and T.I. The artist is slated to perform at the Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 10 and the American Music Awards on Nov. 21. He's also rumored to be performing at halftime during the Detroit Lions' nationally televised Thanksgiving Day game against the New England Patriots.
