The reality star and her mum Kris Jenner have headed off to meet up with Prime Suspect star and organisation co-founder Maria Bello, to help with the recovery effort.
'She connected with Mario Bello and is there with Maria's foundation and also with her mum,' a source told People magazine. 'Her intention was always to take the end of the year to focus on some of the other things that are important to her and this trip was one.'
The insider added that Kim - who is currently in the process of ending her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries - was taught about the importance of giving back by her late father Robert.
'[Kim's] father instilled in her and her siblings that every little bit counts and she always tries to do as much as she can – whether it's privately or whether it's something that she can use her platform for – to help.'
