London synth-popper La Roux is streaming her long-awaited new album, Trouble In Paradise, online in full.
Elly Jackson's brilliant sophomore album can be heard a week ahead of release on her website - before it drops next week on July 21 via Cherrytree/Interscope.
Her Mercury prize nominated debut was released in 2009 and was praised by NME for being "the finest forward-thinking British Pop albums of recent memory".
Expectation for the follow up therefore is high, especially after a five year wait. She recorded in Devon with Ben Langmaid and producer/engineer Ian Sherwin.
With such a gap between albums a change in sound and theme is inevitable. A press release describes her new approach to recording.
“I wanted to create something more special, to take myself up a level,” Jackson said in a statement. “I also wanted to play pretty much everything as I did on the first record, but there was more complicated instrumentation this time, and it took me a while to get to grips with some of it. There was a general concept that Ian and I connected strongly on and discussed at length, which was the idea of what people in the ’70s thought the future would look and sound like.”
