These days, Lady Gaga and Calvin Harris might be on good terms, but things got a bit heated between the two performers last week.
Now, Harris tells MTV News any drama between him and the Mother Monster has been "rectified."
The Mother Monster and the 18 Months producer found themselves deadlocked in a war of words, prompted by something he shared on a U.K. talk show. When asked about rumors he almost worked with Gaga in the past, Harris shared on the BBC Breakfast last week that at the time he was "busy," adding, "You got to pick people whose songs or voice that you like and at that stage, it was before she was very big and they sent me songs that I didn't really like the songs and that's OK. They didn't really send me any of the big songs. It's just one of those things."
It was that admission that had Gaga on the defensive, responding with "never even emailed you @CalvinHarris I guess it's hard to believe I write + produce my music. cuz I'm a woman I don't know about EDM right?"
Calvin Harris credits Rihanna's "We Found Love" for his A-list status!
After they exchanged tweets during which he clarified it had been her camp that contacted him several years back, the twosome finally settled their beef and apologized to one another.
"It's interesting 'cause the actual thing that happened happened four years ago and people have known about it for that amount of time. It was on Wikipedia and... then the actual thing that happened was the label emailed me and asked me for remix of any of these like five tracks," Harris told on Monday of the event that went down years ago, ahead of his comments on the BBC show. "And I wasn't in the studio at the time, I was busy. So I was like, 'Oh, you know, I can't do it'."
As for her claim that he perhaps was being anti-female in his decision to not work with her, he says all you need do is look at his track record to know that he really enjoys working with women, including the likes of Rihanna and Florence Welch, among others. "I couldn't work with any more girls. The first record I did was Kylie Minogue," he said. "Yeah, I've worked with tons of girls."
Lady Gaga enlists Zedd for ARTPOP!
Letting bygones be bygones was made a little easier when mutual pal and fellow EDM producer Zedd had a good laugh at their expense tweeting, "I love you both!!! Let's all hug and have a drink! shave it up!!!!!"
"Zedd's great. He's a great guy," Harris added. "But it was strange. But it was rectified very quickly, which was great."
