Lady GaGa says Paris Hilton released one of the "greatest records ever".
Lady GaGa, who has enjoyed worldwide chart success with her debut single 'Just Dance', claims she enjoyed Paris' 2006 reggae song 'Stars Are Blind'.
Despite a raunchy video filmed on a beach, Paris' debut effort failed to make it into the US Billboard Hot 100 top 10.
Lady GaGa told Paris at a Nokia music event: "I am really excited that you are here because I get asked about you all the time. We went to the same school and although we weren't friends then I always knew I would eventually meet you.
"I loved 'Stars Are Blind'. I thought it was one of the greatest records ever. Honestly, it is a great pop record."
Paris – who is currently working on a dance album - was so pleased to discover Lady GaGa is a fan, she wants to record a duet with the sexy singing sensation.
Paris said: "I would love to do a song with you. I love you.
"Anything we would do would be a surprise. We can't tell anyone anything."
Lady GaGa is keen to collaborate with Paris, replying: "Sure it would have to be a secret."
Paris continued to gush over the 22-year-old fledgling music star, claiming she is already an "icon" in the industry.
She said: "You are incredible, you have become an icon. You won't admit it, but I am going to say it. Believe me you are.
"You are a fashion icon and I am impressed. I am loving your music."
Lady GaGa dismissed her icon status, insisting: "It's going to take a whole lot more than one song to make me an icon. That's for sure."
