Lady Gaga’s scheduled performance in Jakarta, Indonesia has been cancelled, after the Muslim community in the country took offence to the lyrical content of her songs.
Islamic critics have protested their fervent dislike for the ‘Born This Way’ singer, subsequently banning her concert, blaming her suggestive costumes and racy personality. The star will be denied her previously scheduled performance on June 3, which would have been her biggest concert so far on her Asian tour in the Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Indonesia.
Conservative groups, such as the Islamic Defenders Front, have publicly objected to Gaga’s ‘satanic lyrics’, which the group consider threatening to ‘destroy the children’s sense of morality’. Other groups have also sworn to physically stop the singer from entering the country and with worries of public safety the concert was cancelled.
Lady Gaga’s Asian tour has already had a lot of bad press, including under-18’s being banned in South Korea, with the Christian groups declaring her performance as ‘pornographic’ which locals felt promoted homosexuality.
