The pop superstar was with her on-again love at New York's hip new bowling lane night spot, the BowlMor Lanes in Times Square, when they were heard rowing.
'The pop star began talking about a recent interview in which she had to shoot down engagement rumours. Carl insisted that she should have said they were indeed engaged,' celebrity columnist Frank DiGiacomo said.
He insists that Gaga stated that they were not engaged - and then even got the barman to take her side in the fight.
DiGiacomo asked: 'Is Carl trying to get his Lady friend to settle down — or does he just like messing with the media even more than she does?'
He also joked: 'Perhaps more important, if Gaga got engaged, what would her ring be made of? We've got our money on petrified bird poop. Or perhaps human teeth.'
He states that Gaga and a group of six friends joined them as they finished dinner and the BowlMor shut down its second floor to accommodate the group, who stayed until about 11.
Lady Gaga's spokesperson had not responded to requests for comment.
