Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have been celebrating the passage and signing of New York’s gay marriage bill.
On Friday (June 24), the city’s Senate voted 33 to 29 to legalise gay marriage, marking what has been hailed as a historic victory for equality.
Lady Gaga posted a picture of herself surround by friends, and wrote on Twitter: "I can't stop crying. We did it kids.
“The revolution is ours to fight for love, justice+equality. Rejoice NY, and propose. We did it!!!"
Katy Perry said: "NEW YORK! I Love U! You're OFFICIALLY the coolest place on the planet!"
Other celebrities who marked the occasion include US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres and Kathy Griffin.
