The meat dress Lady Gaga wore to this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) has been named Time magazine's Fashion Statement of 2010.
The singer courted controversy when she sported the outfit at the ceremony in September.
"If making fashion statements is your primary raison d'être, it's easy to get bored. Exploding bra? Flamed out. Dress made of bubbles? Please. Using your hair as a bow? Not again. But a dress made of meat — with shoes, hat and purse to match — well, that's fresh," the magazine said.
It went on to describe the dress as a “haute cutlet”.
The burka M.I.A wore to the Scream Awards and Rihann's dress at the Echo Awards in Germany also made the list.
The designer responsible for Lady Gaga's outfit has since said that he expected it to be kept in storage along with the singer's other dresses.
