Lady Gaga feels her career has been an amazing "trip".
Last night the 29-year-old musician was honoured with the Contemporary Icon Award at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame 46th Annual Induction and Awards in New York.
The star took to Instagram to post a snap of her outfit of the night and express her gratitude.
"Thank you so much for the Songwriters Hall Of Fame Contemporary Icon Award. What a trip. Feels like a lifetime," she posted.
"Being a songwriter is first and foremost how I identify in life. Tonight's Award means a lot to me. (sic)"
In the photo she posted, Gaga is wearing a baggy monochrome pinstripe suit with a faded Elvis T-shirt. However, earlier in the night, the songstress had been wearing one of the more daring ensembles she's become famous for. While performing on stage, she rocked a leather bra, black pants, ripped tights and a bright red jacket. She finished the look off with chunky black platform boots.
The award is part of an amazing year for Gaga, who celebrated her engagement to Taylor Kinney on Valentine's Day. And her singing doesn't just resonate with her fans; her fiancé is also very impressed.
"You know, I love what she does and her work and music and charity. She inspires so many people including myself," he told US Weekly recently. "It's someone who's always in your corner, that believes in you and your work, and vice versa."
