More than 10,000 fans gathered at the flagship Sephora on the Champs-Elysées in Paris on Sunday to witness Lady Gaga's so-called "picnic" in celebration of her new fragrance, Fame. In true Gaga fashion, the Mother Monster ditched the traditional wicker basket and red-and-white checkered blanket and instead sat with 30 contest winners on a black fur rug surrounded by plush pillows embroidered with the word "Fame."
Gaga, who launched the perfume last week in New York, says there are several elements that make it like no other.
"Fame is the first ever black eau de parfum, so it is black inside the bottle and once you spray it, it is clear and it's beautiful," the pop star explained. "I don't want to spoil it for you so I'm not going to tell you how we do it, but I will tell you that once it evacuates, the juice, evacuates from the perfume bottle it is completely clear."
However, it's not just the color that's unique. On the perfume's bottle, Gaga compares the scent to the "tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops." According to the "Born This Way" singer, the scent was created in manner all of its own.
"The smell, as well, is innovative, it's push-pull technology, so you're not smelling things in stages the way you do with other perfumes, you're smelling them simultaneously all at once," she said. "Kind of like when you look at me in one of my outfits, you sort of experiencing lots of different statements at once. You'll need a second to take it all in."
