Lady Gaga Pimps Her Recovery With 24-Karat Gold Wheelchair

Regardless of those pictures you've seen of Lady Gaga pushing a grocery cart in US Magazine, Lady Gaga is not like the rest of us.

 tour. If she were like you and I, she'd be sitting on her Ikea couch at home, eating Pirate's Booty and watching "Full Throttle Saloon" marathons while hobbling around on some janky rented crutches.

But she's not. Which is why she's rolling around on a custom-designed 24-karat gold-plated wheelchair cooked up by jewelry designer Ken Borochov.

According to the Daily Beast, Gaga's stylist contacted Borochov, 30, with one week's notice and asked him to pull together the unique roller to help Gaga convalesce from the serious injury.
 "It was a huge undertaking," said Borochov of the chair that he pulled together using manufacturers from around the country.

The wheelchair, which has a removable canopy and tufted leather seat inspired by a leather jacket, finally came together on Sunday night and Borochov said it required a lot of, um, legwork. "It was made all over the United States, my assistant had to run around everywhere," he said. "I make all of my things here in the U.S." The 1.5 ounces of gold on the chair were plated at a Dallas custom car factory (and assembled at Regal Roadsters in Madison, Wisconsin) because Borochov wanted his creation to look like a "throne."

Borochov, who launched his Mordekai label two years ago and has since gotten props from Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, has not yet met Gaga, and won't say how much he charged for the chair. The gold alone is worth around $2,600 at today's rates, but other than posing in it for a Terry Richardson photo shoot, Borochov isn't even sure if she'll actually use it to get around.
