Little Monsters brace yourselves for the next wave of Gaga vision. The lights were dimming at Nicola Formichetti's Spring 2012 Mugler show, when a video of Lady Gaga flickered over the runway. As a pigtailed, diamond gap-toothed Gaga gyrated and quivered, she proclaims: "I am a Mugler woman. Don't f*ck with me. Don't fu*ck with Mugler. Welcome to Paris. We are Paris. Jesus is the new black."
As the video cut out and the lights flashed on a never before heard remix of "Black Jesus † Amen Fashion" trumpeted in the space. Although the singer's presence lacked the same explosion of excitement as last season's show when Ms. Gaga herself strutted down the catwalk, it was nonetheless captivating.
The clothes in the Mugler collection held true to Formichetti's vision and Mugler's extraordinary style. Slightly more wearable then previous collections, the spring line avoided the use of latex and featured three ravishing looks that both Gaga's and non-Gaga's alike could don. A stunning black, long-sleeved dress was both subtle and salaciously sexy. Other provocative and hot items included glittering leggings, asymmetrical cut out pieces, and extreme shoulder padded jackets. Overall the collection was a brilliant depiction of fantasy.
