A few days after our story on why it is good to dress up as Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber for Halloween, New York's Old Homestead steakhouse stole our thunder and buried our suggestions by creating a meat dress inspired by the outfit Gaga worse to the 2010 MTV VMAs, which caused quite a stir among fans and fashionistas alike.
The dress, made of porterhouse steak and pork rib-eye, is selling for $100,000. So if you are independently wealthy and can waste six-figures on a perishable Halloween costume, God Bless! By all means, go as an authentic Lady Gaga. Our suggestions were much more economical and cost-effective, though.
The Old Homestead dress is so pricey because it made with prime cuts of beef. Given the fact that there are children starving in Third World countries and in our own backyards, this seems like a waste of beef. Although folks at the steakhouse did say that you can wear the dress, have a little fun and then freeze the meat for future and continued consumption.
Who or what are you going to dress up as for Halloween this year? I am refraining and abstaining from wearing a costume myself, but my beautiful English bulldog Higgins is going to be a shark.
