Lady Gaga is taking a break from her music career and "won't be back in action until September".
The singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, cancelled the rest of her Born This Way Ball tour in February to recover from hip surgery.
The 27-year-old star is resting after being wheelchair bound post-operation.
She is aiming for a full recovery before getting back on stage.
"She's relaxing and rehabbing. She actually just started walking again, which is great," a source told Life & Style magazine.
Lady Gaga is apparently recuperating in Chicago, Illinois where her boyfriend Taylor Kinney is looking after her.
Friends claim the pop sensation is upset about having to take the career recess, however is following doctors' orders.
"She has a bunch of projects she wants to roll on, but she needs clearance from her doctors," an insider confessed. "It's really frustrating her."
One good thing to come out of her hiatus is that she has been producing new tunes.
The star is doing lots of songwriting which is making the waiting process easier.
"It's very therapeutic," the friend added about the performer who suffered from a labral tear of her right hip.
Gaga has been optimistic throughout the ordeal.
"This is just a bump in the road," Lady Gaga had previously told her fans, often referred to as Little Monsters in a blog post. "I'm grateful because this is temporary, and for some it is not."
