The Bad Romance singer will edit the international Metro next month on May 17.
As part of her promotion of new album Born This Way Gaga will discuss the breaking news on the day and highlight equality issues.
Speaking about it to Metro, the 25-year-old said: 'I was born to be brave. That's part of my mission in life.
'I was born to follow my artistic visions. Look into yourself.'
Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, will be in charge of 17 editions of the global free paper, which shouldn't be confused with the free UK newspaper distributed on public transport.
Executive vice president of Metro, Maggie Samways, added: 'Lady Gaga is an extraordinary artistic force.'
