Lady Gaga to make stage return

Lady Gaga will return to the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards next month.

The 27-year-old singer underwent hip surgery in February to treat a labral tear and severe inflammation of her joints, leaving her wheelchair bound for several weeks.

Going under the knife forced her to cancel the remaining dates on her Born This Way Ball concert tour and to put her new album ARTPOP on hold.

MTV News announced on Thursday the star is now set for a "triumphant" return.

The star will take the stage at the August 25 show in Brooklyn, New York.

It will be her first major performance since her health issues erupted.

She sang America's National Anthem at a gay pride event last month.

Gaga has a storied history of performing at the VMAs.

She famously bloodied herself during a rendition of Paparazzi on the VMA stage in 2009 and performed You And I in 2011.

Her famous meat dress was also unveiled on the VMA red carpet.

She has 13 Moonmen in total.

Other artists performing at the VMAs have not yet been announced.

Earlier this month Gaga issued a statement letting fans know she had fully recovered.

ARTPOP is now scheduled for release November 11.
