Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' will enter the US chart at number one and sell more than Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' following her last minute 99c Amazon sale.
Amazon put the 'Born This Way' album on sale for two days last week and made it the fastest selling digital album ever. Prior to the campaign, Lady Gaga looked like selling around 900,000 units in week one, about 100,000 less than Taylor Swift 'Speak Now' did in the same period. Fuelled by the Amazon promotion, 'Born This Way' ended up selling 1.1 million units, according to HitsDailyDouble.com.
Had the Gaga album not been released last week, country star Brad Paisley would have had the number one album with 'This Is Country Music'. Paisley's album sold 154,000 units, more than Adele '21' that will move back to number three position.
Other debuts in the USA this week are 'Glee The Music Vol 6' at no 4, MMG Presents Self Made Vol 1' at no. 5, New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys collaboration 'NKOTBSB' at no. 7 and Foster The People 'Torches' at no. 9.
American Idol winner Scott McCreery failed to make the top 10 with 'American Idol Season 10' and is predicted to land at no. 11.
