A few weeks ago, Lady Gaga told a British media outlet that "There is no boyfriend," confirming her split with on-again, off-again boyfriend, drummer Luc Carl. She also said she is so busy -have you seen her schedule?!- that she doesn't have time for a BF. Her Monsters are her first love but that does not mean Gaga is impenetrable or immune to broken hearts. The singer revealed that her new single "Judas" is about an ex-lover who broke her heart. Given the timing of her split with Carl and this lyrical elucidation, could "Judas" be about Carl? Only Gaga knows!
Gaga was vilified by religious conservatives and Catholics for the use of religious imagery and a Biblical figure like Judas Iscariot in the video and song and she clarified that she was using metaphor to make a point.
"I've had a lot of ex-boyfriends betray me – assholes, we all have them ... I began to write a song about an ex-lover who betrayed me, who loved heavy metal music," Gaga said to MTV in the UK. Well, Carl is a metal drummer, so that makes us think the song is about him!
What do you think of Gaga's "Judas?" Who should Lady Gaga date next?
