Returning to its home of the Bliss family farm, the acclaimed Blissfields Festival (Best Small UK Festival 2007) is back in 2009 for another bout of reverent musical merriment under the banner of 'The United States of Bliss'.
Tickets are now on sale through blissfields.co.uk at £41 (+booking fee) for a full weekend camping ticket. All early bird passes sold out within 24 hours, and with the announcement of Mercury Prize nominee Laura Marling as a headliner of the event, tickets are sure to go fast for this wonderfully small, at an intimate 1,250 capacity, but beautifully formed Hampshire festival.
To celebrate the official release of tickets, Blissfields will be hosting a night at 93 Feet East, Brick Lane, London on February 13th, 7pm to 1am. It will be a free concert featuring Subgiant and Barefoot Confessor alongside DJ's which include a Blissfields DJ Soundclash featuring Bloody Awful Poetry Vs Chess Club Vs Ally Wolf Vs Dirty Country DJs (Jay Beans on Toast and Winston Mumford & Sons). With a magician, face-painting and all of the usual Blissfields tomfoolery, it will be a taste of summer love in London's wintry East End.
New for 2009 Blissfields will be running an election campaign for any ticket holder who wants to be President of The United States of Bliss for the weekend! A ceremonial position, the winner will have a few duties to carry out - like opening the main stage - and will not want for anything during the festival, not even beer. They will be provided with an official residence and bask in the adoration of their subjects.
