The fashion designer and former Hills star said that she had been dying to try out coloured tips for a while, and finally plucked up the courage after polling fans on her site thebeautydepartment.
Appearing on the red carpet at Tuesday's HTC Status Social bash in Hollywood, she told Us Weekly, 'I didn't think anyone would even notice. I felt like such a rebel.'
The 25-year-old is said to be heartbroken over her recent split with actor Kyle Howard, but she told the magazine that she has plenty going on to keep her busy.
'I have my two clothing lines, LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown, and I just finished the manuscript for my second book series The Fame Game.'
Asked if she is married to her career, she replied, 'In a good way, I have a happy marriage.
'These are all things that I really enjoy doing, so it's a pleasure waking up every morning and I feel very lucky to have that.'
