The talented 24-year-old plays Rachel Berry in the popular television comedy about a high school musical club, and in last year’s debut series she was hailed as the star of the show.
However, season two - which is currently airing - has seen other cast members such as Heather Morris who portrays cheerleader Brittany Pierce gain more of the limelight, leading to some friction if rumours are to be believed.
“In the beginning, she [Lea] was the biggest star,” a source told British magazine Star. “But some of the biggest episodes have taken attention away from her, like the Britney Spears show, which was all about Heather Morris (Brittany).”
Lea has been performing in musicals since the age of eight, and had already enjoyed a hugely successful career starring in shows on New York’s theatre district before Glee began. It is thought her experience in the theatre world has led Lea to expect to have a big role in the musical numbers on the show.
“She thinks that, because she has a Broadway background, this show was made for her. But it wasn’t,” added the insider.
