LeAnn Rimes reveals she was often "disgusted" by herself before entering rehab.
The 30-year-old country crooner spent time in a treatment facility for stress and anxiety last summer.
LeAnn has spoken previously about the immense guilt she carried for infidelity before seeking help. LeAnn cheated on her former husband Dean Sheremet with current spouse Eddie Cibrian. Eddie was also married to Brandi Glanville during the early stages of his relationship with LeAnn.
LeAnn needed a professional opinion to prevent self-abasement.
"I was feeling all these crazy emotions and feeling terrible about myself and was disgusted by myself and thought I was pathetic," she told Us Weekly.
LeAnn has addressed this rough period in her life on her new album Spitfire.
Songs like Borrowed express the maturation process she put herself through.
"Sometimes it takes walking through those tough times to come out the other side stronger and wiser," LeAnn explained.
"I'm gonna make mistakes as I move on in life, but that's who we are, and I'm fortunate that I've grown a lot and I'm proud of who I am now… it's a good place to be.
"I'm the strongest I've ever been. I'm the most honest with myself that I've ever been, I'm the most secure I've ever been about myself and my family, and I'm the most confident I've been in a really long time."
LeAnn married Eddie in 2011.
Spitfire will be available worldwide in June.
