Unofficial word has come down that Leonard Cohen's thirteenth studio album, reportedly called Popular Problems, will be released at the end of September.
Rolling Stone has talked with Jarkko Arjatsalo, the man who runs a Cohen fansite, who said he had received the information directly from Cohen. Arjatsalo had written in the event book for this past weekend's Leonard Cohen Event 2014 in Dublin:
Leonard has worked hard on his next studio album of entirely new songs. He asked me to let you know that Popular Problems will be out at the end of September, shortly after his 80th birthday.
Arjatsalo added that there are no plans, at this time, for a tour in support of the album. Cohen is now 80, but age didn't stop him from a 2-1/2 year trek from May 2008 through December 2010 so a tour may still be announced.
Cohen's new album will the followup to 2012's Old Ideas.
