Driving over the speed limit got rapper Lil Flip in more hot water than he could've anticipated this week. The Houston MC was placed under arrest in Louisiana on Wednesday morning after a traffic stop turned up drugs and an assault rifle.
The Shreveport Times is reporting that Lil Flip, who was born Wesley Eric Weston, was driving 86 mph in a 75mph zone in the Desoto Parish of Shreveport, Louisiana, when cops pulled him over for speeding.
The rapper, who is 31, was driving with another man, Olanza Sanders, a resident of Shreveport at the time. A search of the 2010 Dodge Challenger turned up marijuana and an illegally owned Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifle. The two men were arrested, with Weston being booked for speeding, third-offense possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Meanwhile Sanders, a felon, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Sanders was eventually freed on a $25, 000 bond after being held at the DeSoto Detention Center, but Lil Flip is still behind bars with his bond set at $35, 000.
Lil Flip dropped his most recent album Ahead of My Time in 2010. Back in 2004, he made headlines for his blow out feud with Atlanta MC T.I. The two rappers traded heated words at several shows and even scuffled on the streets of Houston. They later sat down to talk things out and put an end to their much publicized beef.
