Lil' Kim is not to be trifled with. After Kim appeared on Wednesday's "Rapfix Live," where she introduced her new artist, Tiffany Foxx, the rapper's rep lashed out at gossip blog MediaTakeOut for an unflattering item about Kim's looks.
The post, based on a photo snapped of Kim as she was leaving the "Rapfix" set, was a piece of fiction according to her rep, C.J. Carter.
"We would like to inform fans, the media, and the general public that this is nothing more than the blog site doing its best to conjure up much needed publicity and what better way to do so, than to take an American music icon and create a fictitious platform in which to disrespect and humiliate," read a statement sent by Carter to E! Online about the item, which appeared to have been amended since its original posting. As of Friday morning (March 8) there was no longer a photo accompanying the piece, whose headline read, "Rapper Lil' Kim shows off her new look ... she put on some weight ... and it looks GOOD ON HER!!!" MediaTakeOut is known for posting salacious, often un-or anonymously-sourced items about hip-hop, sports and R&B stars.
Carter slammed the Kim story, which he said, "implied that Grammy Award winning hiphopstress Lil' Kim was physically distorted."
The furor came after a number of recent stories commenting on how different Kim has looked in recent public appearances. "We at Team Lil' Kim are not taking this lying down and are taking this matter very seriously," Carter said.
Carter went on to refer to the implications in the TakeOut story as, "fictitious, malicious and despicable," but offered no indication of what, if any action Team Lil' Kim plans to take in the wake of the slight.
A spokesperson for MediaTakeOut could not be reached for comment at press time.
