Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Phantom' sequel 'Love Never Dies' is to close in London after 18 months.
While the Australian production has received rave reviews thanks to its reinvention by director Simon Phillips, critics panned the UK original.
Melbourne, Australia became the first city outside London to premiere 'Love Never Dies' after the Broadway production was put on indefinite hiatus.
However, Lord Webber said he planned on using Phillips' Australian modification as the core version of the show as it continues to be rolled out around the world. At the Melbourne opening night he told the audience "I always hated the London production".
'Love Never Dies' opened in May at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne with Ben Lewis as The Phantom and Anna O'Byrne as Christine.
