As he arrived at the 83rd Academy Awards in Los Angeles, the actor spoke to Extra about plans for a sequel to the hit movie.
He said: 'Now we're gonna talk about doing No.2. We're gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy and make it real.'
Wahlberg was referring to the real-life fighter Mickey Ward and his three fights with opponent Arturo Gatti.
Speaking to Extra's Mario Lopez he added; 'And you know what? You may want to play Gatti.'
The movie was nominated for Best Picture but lost out to The King's Speech and Wahlberg spoke about the film being nominated before the ceremony started.
He said: 'It's crazy. We're just thrilled to be here. I told my wife, as a guy, you don't just want to go to the finals, you want to win.'
