Asked by The Hollywood Reporter if he would give up performing in front of the camera, the 39-year-old actor says: 'Possibly. It depends.'
Over the past six years, the father-of-four has produced a number of high-profile projects including the HBO series Entourage and Boardwalk Empire.
He is also producing his current movie The Fighter, in which he plays real-life boxer 'Irish' Mickey Ward.
But despite enjoying his stints as a producer, the former rapper says he is keen to “get back out there” and act again.
He tells the US trade magazine: 'I think after not working for a year, I'm anxious to get back out there and to act again.
'But after going and making two films, I look forward to being at home and minding my business.'
Boston-born Wahlberg also reveals that he has no long-term career plans.
He says: 'Every day, I don't know what side of the bed I wake up on.
'I want to continue to produce films, find the right material and make movies that I think people will want to see me in or that I think people would want to see, period.”
