Wahlberg, 39, who is starring in new movie The Other Guys, has been in trouble with the law in the past and he admitted people wrongly believe he is still a tough guy now.
Speaking to Britain's Empire magazine, he said: 'Yeah, even today doing these photoshoots I was doing earlier. They want me to pull all these silly faces, but that's just not me.
'I can't do that. It's not that I think I'm too cool. Then the guy was like: 'Okay, no problem. We can do the bad-ass look, then.' And I'm like: 'Well, I'm not really a bad-ass either!'
'You know, I'm a dad. I grew up in an edgy environment and had to navigate through a pretty tough world, so I was required to appear a bad-ass, but I'm past all that now.'
The actor is married to model Rhea Durham and they have four children - Ella, seven, Michael, four, Brendan, two, and Grace, eight months.
