The talented actor starred alongside comedy icons such as Will Ferrell in the movie The Other Guys, about a pair of mismatched New York City detectives who decide to emulate the city's top policemen.
Mark found it easy improvising with the movie’s stars such as Will because he knows the New York underworld well after getting involved in crime as a youngster.
“I wasn’t intimidated by improvising myself, either, because that’s my game; I can talk sh*t with the best of them!
“It’s a world of New York cops – a world I know like the back of my hand – but obviously had it been Shakespeare I wouldn’t have been so quick to get into improvising!” he laughed in an interview with Empire magazine.
The role was a complete change of direction for Mark, who is better known for appearing in serious movies such as The Departed, for which he received an Oscar nomination.
Mark enjoyed rising to the challenge and says he threw himself into creating an insane character, without worrying about looking silly.
“My cop, Terry, is crazy, and obsessive, and the secret is to be really committed to the ridiculousness of it all and make it absurd,” explained the star.
