Lucas, 36, recently finished filming the new show that also stars his Little Britain co-star David Walliams.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: 'Hopefully people who liked Little Britain will like it and hopefully people who hated Little Britain will like it.'
A six-episode series will air in the UK on BBC One later on this year.
He added: 'It's a mock documentary. It's a spoof of programmes like Airport and Airline. We play 25 characters each... all new characters.'
Lucas recently played the role of Thenardier in the 25th anniversary performance of musical Les Miserables in London and said he would love to do more musicals.
He said: 'I'd love to play this role again. I feel it's the start of something, I love doing musicals. I kind of plan to do some more really because it's just fun, even though I'm not a trained singer.'
