The actor – who is best known for playing teacher Will Schuester on popular American television show Glee – admits he has a soft spot for the stunning Hollywood star.
Matthew was thrilled when Gwyneth agreed to appear in an episode of Glee, which follows a group of high school students who belong to a musical club. He was surprised by how down-to-earth the Oscar-winning actress was and he was also impressed by her singing skills.
"Dare I say I have a crush on Gwyneth Paltrow? She's the most lovely... She's not like a movie star, she's just like a normal person,” Matthew told E! Online. “She was so awesome to work with. She's so talented. She's singing a lot, like three numbers or something."
In the episode, Gwyneth plays a substitute teacher and Will starts to develop feelings for her.
Matthew is hopeful the blonde star will return to the show in future and has hinted it could be a possibility. "I think she'll come back maybe down the line," he explained.
Meanwhile, Matthew has also addressed the rumours about his relationship with Cameron Diaz after they partied together in Hollywood last weekend.
The pair, along with actress Joanna Garcia, enjoyed dinner at Soho House before going on to nightspot Bardot. Matthew was later seen driving the ladies away from the venue.
The hunk has denied he was on a date with Cameron, insisting he is “just friends” with the beauty.
