Rapper Meek Mill will have to wait until February (16) to learn if he will face more jail time for a parole violation in his native Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The hip-hop star, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, is in trouble for reportedly breaking the terms of his parole in a 2009 drug and gun case by repeatedly changing his court-approved travel schedule, and accompanying his girlfriend Nicki Minaj to the recent American Music Awards in Los Angeles without the permission of his probation officer.
Nicki testified on her man's behalf in a Philadelphia court last week (10Dec15) in a bid to keep the rapper out of jail, telling Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley he is a new man.
"He's not perfect but I can't believe how much he's changed," she said, before telling the court she plans to help her boyfriend get organised and fulfil his community service requirements.
Mill took the stand himself on Thursday (17Dec15) and broke down as he pleaded for leniency, after describing how tough it had been not to visit his sick mother in New Jersey following surgery as he couldn't get the last-minute approval for the trip.
He also apologised to the District Attorney for blasting her as a "b**ch" in his diss track The Ride, and he became emotional as he declared, "I'm not a gangsta. I'm not a criminal... I have my queen, Nicki, now. I'm trying to do better and feel like I can be the best rapper out there."
Mill's tearful testimony failed to sway Judge Brinkley, who found him in "technical violation" of his parole.
However, she postponed sentencing until early next year (16) and ordered Mill not to perform any shows or leave Pennsylvania in the meantime.
