Mel C has joked One Direction have "no time for hangovers" if they want to continue their success.
The British boy band - comprising of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - had a great year in 2012, scoring three MTV Video Music Awards and hitting the top of the US album chart. They are gearing up for a world tour at the moment and former Spice Girl Mel has given them some words of wisdom.
"In that situation when you find success, it's hard to get success - but it's even harder to maintain it. With pop bands, it is often so short-lived that you have to take every opportunity that you can and it is hard," she told Heat magazine. "I would say that you have to rest as much as you can. I think it's harder for boys, as well, but there's lots of evidence that they like a bit of a party. There's no time for hangovers, really! It can be difficult. But I have no sympathy. Just enjoy it. It'll be over soon... I'm just joking 1D fans!"
Mel and her former Spice Girl band mates Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Mel B also rose to the top of the pop world. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience of visiting new countries and meeting fans, but knew how important it was to keep her ego in check.
"They seem to be breaking America, which we were lucky enough to do. My advice would be just enjoy it, because so often with success like that it's over so quickly. So really enjoy every minute of it; try and take it all in, 'cos it's crazy," she added.
