Mel C says motherhood has made her a more courageous person.
Mel C became more courageous after becoming a mother.
Despite being a member of the Spice Girls, the singer insists there were parts of her life where she was shy but three-year-old Scarlett inspired her to overcome her issues.
In an interview with Britain's HELLO! magazine, she said: "I never expected the changes that came with being a mum.
"One of my overwhelming feelings was that I had to make Scarlet proud of me. This made me brave in areas where before I'd been shy."
Mel - who is to star opposite Ben Forster in a new touring version of the musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' starting this month - says the best part of her day is having breakfast with Scarlet and she much prefers to be at home with her than out.
She said: "Now I enjoy the feeling of being settled at home with her. My favorite part of the day is having breakfast with her. Scarlet astounds me with her maturity. She'll give me a cuddle and say, 'Are you OK, mummy?' "
Mel, 38, recently split from Scarlet's father Thomas Starr after 10 years of being a couple, but she insists they are on amicable terms for the sake of their child.
She explained: "Looking after Scarlet is a team effort.
"It's important to share the same ideas about bringing up a child, and luckily we do."
