Metallica's Kirk Hammett has lost his phone and it contained over 250 unused Metallica song ideas.
Hammett revealed his loss on the podcast The Jasta Show, telling host Jamey Jasta "I lost my iPhone with 250 musical ideas. I was crushed. It didn't get backed up. When it happened, I was bummed out for about two or three days… I'm still looking for it to this day… It still might turn up, I'm hoping that it will."
Kirk also gave some advice that applies to everyone, not just musicians. "All you musicians out there who use your phone, make sure it's backed up, right?"
Hammett went on to say that Metallica's new album is "super riffy, super heavy" with a lot of similarity to their last album, Death Magnetic.
Metallica has long blown away their previous record for time between albums. It has been six years and seven months since the release of Death Magnetic in 2008. Earlier, it was five years, six months, 19 days between Reloaded and St. Anger.
