Mike Peters, who has been handling vocal duties for Big Country since 2010, has left the group who will continue on as a quartet.
The announcement was made on the Big Country site:
Bruce and Mark would like to thank Derek, Jamie, Mike, Tony and the estate of Stuart Adamson for the last 3 years. Big Country and Mike will now be parting ways. The band will continue using Stuart's original blue print as a 4 piece. We wish Mike well in the future.
Peters is best known as the lead singer for The Alarm, a band with which he has performed on and off over the years. He joined Big Country when the band reformed in late 2010 for a number of dates. The reentered the studio with Steve Lillywhite, who had produced the band's first two albums, to record their first single in twelve years which was followed by the album Another Country (2011).
With Peters gone, the band will consist of original member Bruce Watson on guitar and vocals, Mark Brzezicki, who joined shortly after the bands formation, on drums, Jamie Watson (2010- ) on guitars and Derek Forbes (2012 - ) on bass. It is unknown, at this time, who will handle lead vocals.
