Liverpool Sound City is proud to announce its next wave of acts performing in May 2011. The current price of £35 expires in just a few days; with over 300 bands set to play at this year's festival, this is the last chance to grab an unparalleled music bargain at the UK's leading music, arts and cultural extravaganza.
Hot off the press is that the city's own prodigal son and bearer of its new musical manifesto, Miles Kane, headlines in the sumptuous and resplendent St George's Hall. A year in the making, his glorious, fuzz-rock-raw, beat-pop-brilliant debut, Closer To The Trap, launches in April, and LSC is where to catch Miles doing what he does best; entrancing and enrapturing his audience in the Liverpool's stunning and iconic venue.
The third wave of acts from Liverpool Sound City is also spearheaded by Canada's Fucked Up ' a riotous hardcore punk band who won the Polaris 2009 award for their album The Chemistry of Common Life. Their new album on Matador drops in May, titled, David Comes To Life. Grime MC Wretch 32 hails from London with MTV naming him as a nominee for MTV Brand New for 2011. His first single, Traktor, charted at no.5 in the UK charts, and his sensational rapping will bring the house down. He's recently performed with Mark Ronson and Duran Duran at the Roundhouse and is widely known as the UK's rappers rapper, with 10 weeks in top 40. And expect an incendiary show from Young Knives who make their LSC debut; the Mercury-nominated trio's unique take on British pop continues a rich vein of inspired British psychedelia.
Spank Rock collaborating Amanda Blank brings an urban edge to Liverpool; from her baile-funk roots to a more recent punkier sound. Mancunian indie-poppers Dutch Uncles bring their distinctly northern verve to Liverpool whilst Trophy Wife debut with their melancholy disco beats. The Phoenix Foundation's Kiwi, dreamy psychedelic pop will further wow the Sound City masses and further demonstrating LSC's global reach, Canadian indie outfit The Rural Alberta Advantage also touchdown to join the party.
And there's still more. Scottish sonic starlet Rachel Sermanni is a 19-year old prodigy with a dazzling future ahead; her lyrical folk creations have already made waves. Manchester's ska bastions Kid British also star, along with Wolf Gang's intelligent pop-funk, NME's touted Oxford's popsters Fixers and Wolves indie-rock outfit The Lines complete the billing.
