Seems Hannah Montana can't take the growing pains. For the second time, Miley Cyrus has announced she's taking a break from social media — perhaps because recent rumors are hitting too close to home.
A string of gossip-magazine headlines claiming her engagement to Liam Hemsworth had been called off forced Cyrus to speak up. In one fell tweet, she denied the wedding was canceled and called out the media.
I am so sick of La. And sick of the lies that come with it. I didn't call off my wedding. Taking a break from social media. #draining

The upcoming March 18 cover of Us Weekly boasts the headline "Miley & Liam: Wedding Is Off!" and inside, the magazine claims that a source close to the couple said the engagement is over. "Liam and Miley are done. Miley put her career on hold to spend all her time with Liam," the source said.
The article appears on the heels of reports of Hemsworth's night out with "Mad Men" actress January Jones at a pre-Oscars party at Hollywood's Chateau Marmont hotel last month. An eyewitness reportedly told Star magazine that Hemsworth, 23, and Jones, 35, had "hot chemistry" and the two "were all over each other — and they even kissed." A paparazzi photo appears to have caught the two driving away in a limo.
Miley Cyrus slicks back and spikes up her short 'do: Which do you like better?
Miley's Twitter hiatus sucks for her 11 million followers, but it isn't the first time she has fled from under the social-media microscope. In 2009 — with fewer than 2 million followers at the time — she abruptly deleted her Twitter account. Then she released a YouTube rap with lyrics including, "I want my private life to be private/ I'm done tryna please."
Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their engagement June 6 after three years of dating. The former Disney star met the hunky Australian actor on the set of their 2009 film "The Last Song."
Twitter has embedded itself in their happy home before. In September, Cyrus posted a series of tweets that possibly pointed out a rift in their relationship, including, "sometimes i feel like i love everyone more than they love me. hatttte that feeling." Reports swirled that Hemsworth once gave Cyrus an ultimatum to step away from the social-media site, and Cyrus didn't exactly deny it. "FYI Liam doesn't have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason," Miley tweeted back in 2009.
MTV News will be following the saga. Stay here for Miley's inevitable Twitter return.
