Miley Cyrus has hit back at critics after cancelling a string of shows on her current Bangerz tour, dening suggestions that she pulled out of US and European gigs due to drug problems.
The controversial singer brought her tour to the UK this week, and last night (6 May 2014) performed a huge gig at London's O2 Arena. Ahead of the performance, the 'Wrecking Ball' singer addressed accusations, affirming that her recent illness had been due to an allergic reaction and claimed that her recent hospital treatment had left her in better shape than ever.
"I'm the poster child for good health," she said at a press conference, adding that she had been "connected to an IV for the last two weeks. I'm going to go off!"
Discussing suggestions of a drugs problem, she continued: "I didn't have a drug overdose. I took some shitty antibiotics that a doctor gave me for a sinus infection and I had a reaction."
She did suggest, however, that behind the scenes on her Bangerz tour was something of a hotbed for drink, drugs and partying adding that her show, in which she rides a giant sausage, slides down a giant tongue and simulates masturbation and oral sex on a man dressed as Bill Clinton, is something she takes very seriously indeed.
"I'm probably the only one on this tour who doesn't drink or smoke before a show, as I take this really seriously," she said. "It's almost like being an athlete being up here, because if someone was fucked up, they definitely couldn't do my show."
