Miley Cyrus thought she'd have to "stand on apple boxes" to kiss her statuesque boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.
The real-life couple starred in Last Song together – and embarked on a romantic relationship during filming in 2009.
Miley initially had reservations about the tall Australian hunk.
"I got a little bit nervous about how big he was, in height. I was like, 'I'm going to have to stand on apple boxes or something," Miley told Australia's GQ Style.
Liam's success is fast rising, with his upcoming role in highly-anticipated The Hunger Games alongside Jennifer Lawrence set to raise his profile further. However the 22-year-old has revealed the very different career path he nearly went down.
"I surfed competitively and made it to the state rounds where I was competing with the top surfers in Victoria," he explained.
"All my friends were surfers. All we wanted to do was be Kelly Slater."
Liam is also starring in The Expendables 2 alongside Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The actor couldn't believe his luck when he was cast in the coveted film sequel alongside the stellar action actors.
"It's hard not to think you're dreaming in a situation like that," he gushed.
"I kept looking around thinking, 'Life is so unbelievably awesome".
