So, are they or aren't they? Well, Liam Hemsworth momentarily led everyone to believe he had already married Miley Cyrus earlier this week at a splashy event in Los Angeles.
At the Australians in Film Awards event on Wednesday night, the Aussie native took the stage to accept the Film Breakthrough Award for his work in the first film in the "Hunger Games" franchise. Perhaps getting caught up in the excitement of the moment, he accidentally told the room he had married the 19-year-old, before adjusting his comment pretty quickly.
"I was fortunate enough to get called back in to read with my now fiancée [for 'The Last Song'], who I recently got engaged to ... and we read together and fell in love and now we're married," he told the audience, which included his lady love. People.com reports that he then said, "Well, not married yet."
Miley couldn't contain herself and added, "We will be!" and Hemsworth agreed with her.
On the red carpet for the same event on Wednesday, Miley gushed about her future husband to the site. "[Australians are] way hotter. There's no competition," she said. "I think there's a masculinity about [Australian guys] that is probably like growing up in the South, like what I did. They are a little bit more respectful, I suppose.
"My dad [singer Billy Ray Cyrus] has always been a really hard worker, so I like it when men work hard," she added. "I think it's important and I always work really hard, so it's good to have someone who is as passionate about what they do, and wants to be great at what they do."
On Thursday night, Cyrus tweeted a cryptic message that may have some fans wondering how much longer she will be able to wait before she marries the heartthrob. She wrote, "The weight of the world is to strong. The wait to be yours is to long. In this bed alone I feel to small. I want none if not all."
Miley and Liam got engaged earlier this month after three years of dating. Wednesday night wasn't the first time they sparked rumors that they were closer to walking down the aisle than originally intended. Last weekend another tweet from Cyrus — in which she wrote, "Super lazy Sunday! Can't wait for next week! It'll be filled with happiness!" — had many wondering if this was the week she'd be marrying the A-list hunk.
But his rep shut down the rumor, noting that Cyrus was likely referring to the Wednesday night event and not a wedding ceremony. "Haven't heard that," the rep told Gossip Cop, adding that Hemsworth would be "back in LA for a night next week to receive an award from Australians in Film on the 27th."
