Country singer Miranda Lambert has hinted her divorce has inspired her to hit the studio.
The 31-year-old singer and fellow musician Blake Shelton announced they had split after four years of marriage in July (15), getting a divorce immediately.
Miranda is famed for penning tracks about love and relationships – her second record was called Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – and it seems her breakup could have provided her with some new ammunition.
"I've never felt more inspired," she said at her Music City Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony in Nashville on Tuesday (06Oct15). "I listen to live music or I've written music basically every single day for the whole summer and it was my first summer off the road and I've never felt more ready to make music and learn from music and learn from songwriters."
Miranda accepted a star at the ceremony and happily posed next to it, showing off her slim figure in a black jumpsuit with lace detailing.
It meant a lot to her to be in the famed country music location, as she became famous after appearing on a reality TV show called Nashville Star. She has moved back to the city following her divorce and is enjoying every second of it.
"I feel like a bigger part of Nashville than I ever have," she enthused. "I've been spending a lot of time here the last three or four months. I moved back here. I've never felt more at home."
In December (14), Blake appeared on a US talk show where he joked about his now ex-wife's song writing. The pair are usually both nominated for the big country music awards as they are so successful, but even when they were together he would never get competitive with her. This is one of the reasons why she got their co-write Over You on her album, rather than it going to Blake.
"Let me just back up here. I don't get a say so," he laughed to Jimmy Kimmel. "All the way back to the awards thing, it's like, it's you, it's all about you. Have you heard any of her music? All her music is about killing guys and burning their houses down and beating up people. That's my wife! That is my wife! What do you want me to do; I'm not going to challenge her!"
