A source said to UK newspaper Daily Star Sunday: 'The producers wanted someone who knows all about the realities of the business and Myleene's experiences with Hear'Say and I'm A Celebrity means she fits the bill perfectly.
'She is a classically-trained musician and this is what made her the ideal person to judge talent. It's hoped she'll mix things up a bit as she really knows what works on stage and what doesn't.'
The source added: 'Myleene is really excited about joining Amanda Holden on the panel. She can't wait to see what BGT will throw at her. She's game for a laugh and can't wait to get her hands on the buzzer.'
David Walliams and James Corden have also been rumoured for a role on the judging panel after the departure of Simon Cowell.
