New System Of A Down Inspired By The Beach Boys

System of a Down's next album has been inspired by a wide variety of acts including The Beach Boys and Kraftwerk.

'There is a wide array of influences in our new songs", said Daron Malakian in a statement, who writes and arranges most of the music. 'The influences range from Kraftwerk to Dark Throne to the Zombies to the Beach Boys, but it all fits together, it works.'

The album is in the final stages of post-production and the band has moved from their North Hollywood rehearsal space to a private home studio in the Hollywood Hills.

There will be no wastage on the yet to be titled album. They plan to only record songs that will make the record.

"We'll play a song through and record it," Malakian explained, "listen to it and decide what could make it even better - repeat a chorus, simple rearrangement, we all spark off of each other. Some of the new songs have really great moments, we want to make the entire song a really great moment."

'Toxicity', their last studio album was released in 2001 and sold more than 5 million units in the USA.
