The couple are set to tie the knot later this year – although the date has been kept a closely guarded secret – and Lachey said he is eager to get baby making.
'We definitely want do it sooner rather than later,' he told People magazine. 'I'll be 38 this year, so it's one of those things that I'm certainly behind the eight-ball on. Not that getting married was the means to an end to have kids, but it certainly was the next step in the process that leads us to ultimately having a great family together.'
The couple have decided to allow their big day to be filmed for a television special but said it will be a world away from his former experiences with ex-wife Jessica Simpson on reality show Newlyweds.
'This is very different than doing a reality series. It's a one-off special,' he said. 'This is a different process. There's a beginning and there's and end, and it's over.'
He celebrated his buck's night at Tao Las Vegas and Tao Beach over the weekend with 30 of his friends, but said that from this point on he wants all of the attention to be on his bride-to-be.
'It's important to me – and remains important to me – that this is her day, and I want her to experience everything that being a bride is and can be,' he said. 'And so I want this to be everything she dreamt it would be and more and I've tried to make that happen for her and for us.
Weddings are a very, very, very intimate and special thing ... I've tried to work hard to make it that.'
