Nicole Richie: Id be so sad if my kids got tattoos

Richie, who also revealed that she is finally marrying her children’s father Joel Madden because 'it's the right time', said she hopes their kids Harlow, two, and Sparrow, one, had been scared off tattoos after seeing so much of their own parents' body art.

'I know I sound like a hypocrite, but I would be so sad,' she said on US TV show The View.

'Joel has [tattoo] sleeves and his twin brother Benji has tattoos on his neck and his face.

'I'm just hoping that my kids will be so embarrassed of them that they're not going to have any. It happens!'

Although Richie confirmed she and Madden are definitely getting married, she admitted that they had yet to set a date.

She said: 'Joel and I don't do things traditionally. I don't know why we waited, but it just wasn't in our path, and it was great.

'But we feel that it's the right time. We're ready – and it's something that feels great.'

She added: 'We're not big planners! Honestly, we haven't planned anything. But we'll find a time.'
