The actor recently accused CBS of meddling in his 'personal life' by putting Two And A Half Men on hiatus while he undergoes rehab from home.
But while co-hosting on ABC's The View, Richie, 29, who has battled her own demons in the past and gone on to have two children with husband Joel Madden, said that Sheens accusatory message 'was a little like, 'You guys better give me something to do'.
'I don't think he should make it somebody else's responsibility to keep him sober,' she said. 'If he wants [his sobriety] to last for a long time, it's up to him. He's an adult and he needs to take responsibility for his actions.'
